Meet Joseph:

Responding to the Call

With over 30 years of law enforcement experience policing in 3 states (TX, FL, and SC), I am a Servant Leader, Boots on the ground kind of officer. I serve the public and fellow LEOs in the trenches every day.

I understand the everyday dangers and needs of both the community and LEOs. I have faithfully served the City of Spartanburg for the past 14 years and have come to understand the needs and the services this county is lacking and the changes that are needed. I have always considered my time in law enforcement as ministry – starting off as a volunteer chaplain in the Dallas County and Irving TX jails before entering the policing field. As an officer, I have been involved in many specialty policing areas including Narcotics, Traffic Enforcement and Domestic Violence. Most recently, I finished as the Homeless liaison officer for the City of Spartanburg – which connected the unhoused and those with mental illness to resources and care.

Holding a Master’s Degree and multiple advanced certifications, I have spent over 5 years training future officers as a Police Academy instructor in Florida and I love educating officers as well as the public. I am a “boots on the ground” leader, deeply committed to accountability, transparency and restoring faith in local government. Building long term relationships with people and businessesis foundational. You will not find me sitting behind a desk if I can help it. I have always desiredto be a part of the community I serve. Serving, Caring, Protecting and standing up for Righteousness are no small tasks. Driven by passion, I have held steadfast to these core values. I believe what Spartanburg County is needing more than anything right now is to rebuild trust with law enforcement, bring back true transparency in all our government and develop the Spirit of Community again.

For such a time as this, God has raised me up for this purpose to serve Spartanburg County. To bring hope to those who are hopeless and lost, to restore faith in government and law enforcement and together make our communities safer. Every position that God has placed me in, I have brought the skills, training and experience He has equipped me with to better serve each citizen where they were at in their time of need.

I am a husband, father and grandfather. My true calling is ministry and serving – what better place to be than in the center of Gods will. I have a servant’s heart to reach those around me and make sure they are heard and taken care of.

I would be honored to be your next Sheriff and look forward to meeting you.
